The team plus supporters have assembled at The Hub, Bridge 8.The excitement and energy visible in all the faces ~ todays task is to transport Emma (our much loved dragon boat ) from here, by road on a road trailer long enough to scare most of us ! Our trailer driver is on hand and very capable. However, the day starts with a bit of a challenge, an opportunity to problem solve and team build. There is no key to access the area where the trailer is stored. The gates are locked ! Heads are scratched, calls are made and tools are requested. A little breaking and entering is required. (Full reparation was made). So, with Emma safely secured on the trailer, the convoy set off to The Falkirk wheel where Emma would be stored overnight. The Challenge starts here early tomorrow morning. On arrival at The Falkirk Wheel, the public are intrigued, the tourists captivated and puzzled. The staff expected us and were so helpful in guiding us to the safest place for Emma to spend the night.Snuggled between a pontoon and a barge, Emma looked settled for the night.Refreshments were had, note was taken regarding the plan to raise Emma, complete with Team, up on the wheel to start The Challenge early the next morning. All good thus far………………….
We all set off, back the road we came to return the trailer to our starting point. Not quite. Cars arrived and we waited to help with returning the trailer to its safe space…………And waited……………..chat started ‘ hadn’t we heard, the trailer was involved in a road accident en route back.’The trailer did arrive, minus rear lighting board and lights………OoopsAnd with a safety driver closely following behind for moral support.Ok, not so bad as it didn’t look to be a potentially serious issue, let’s unhitch and put the trailer away. Not quite, the bump had caused something to happen which meant that quick release was not happening. However, with a bit of encouragement and the threat of having to wait two hours for assistance, it released.
So, everything back in place, all necessary remediation to locks in situ, time to go home, sleep and dream about the challenge ahead.
